Three of a family shot dead

SHEIKHUPURA, Jan 27: Three members of a family were shot dead on Monday over an old enmity in Abbas Chowk, Imamia Colony, some 36 kms from here.

Ferozewala police had registered a case against three unidentified motorcyclists for shooting to death a Shia leader and UC Nazim candidate, Abu Talib, some 25 days back.

The heirs of deceased Talib suspected that Yaqoob, his sons Amanat (22) and Amjad (35) had killed him. They were also not satisfied with the police investigation. On Monday, Yaqoob received an anonymous call to reach Ferozewala police station in connection with an interrogation. As Yaqoob and his sons reached near the police station, some unidentified assailants opened fire on them. Amanat and Amjad died on the spot while their father died in a nearby hospital.

KILLED: A cyclist was killed while another injured in a road accident near Syedwala here on Monday.

Karamat Ahmad along with his friend Younas Manzoor was on his way by a bicycle when a speeding tractor-trolley hit them. As a result, Karamat died instantly while Manzoor sustained serious injuries. He was admitted to a nearby hospital. The driver managed to escape from the scene.

TWO COMMIT SUICIDE: A jobless youth and a woman committed suicide after taking poison in and around the city during the last 24 hours.

Maimoona alias Moona took her life over her marriage issue. Shahid alias Abdullah of Imamia Colony was upset due to joblessness.
