Asif shifted to Karachi hospital

KARACHI, Jan 25: Asif Ali Zardari, interned spouse of the former prime minister Benazir Bhutto was on Saturday shifted to Karachi after his visit to Naudero where he had gone to offer condolences on the death of Shirin Amir Begum, the first wife of the late Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.

Asif, who had been released on parole, was accompanied by his daughter Asfa.

On the expiry of his parole on Saturday he was shifted to Dr Ziauddin Hospital from where he would be taken back to the PIMS, in Islamabad.

He stayed for four days at Naudero.

Asif also had about 60-minute closed-door meeting with Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal secretary-general and Jamiat Ulema-i- Islam chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman.
