By Our Correspondent

BAHAWALPUR, Jan 25: The railway saloon owned by the last ruler of the Bahawalpur state, late Sir Sadiq Muhammad Khan Abbasi, was burnt badly at the Dera Nawab Sahib railway station on Friday.

The saloon parked in the deserted railway garage abruptly caught fire at midday. Within moments, the flames engulfed the saloon and the old building where it had been parked for years. The tehsil council’s fire brigade was called out which brought the fire under control with the help of area people. The cause of the fire could not be known.

It was, however, learnt that the saloon building was a den of addicts where railway officials seldom paid the visit. Similarly, the railway police also did not take any security measure for the safety of the saloon and the building.
