Water rotation schedule announced

SUKKUR, Jan 25: The executive engineer, irrigation, Ghotki division, on Saturday announced a rotation programme for various canals originating from Rabu for 2002-03.

According to the announcement, irrigation canals like Nehsaru Wah, Agro Minor, Jari Wah Old, Sabani Minor, Kamal Wah, Keraj Minor, Salani Forest Minor, Pir Wah, Nouraja Minor, and Baiji Minor would remain open between Jan 29 and Feb 5.

Similarly, irrigation channels, including Janib Wah, Rohri Forest Minor, Sangi Minor, Girkino Wah, Kotri Distributary and Bahrio Distributary would remain open between Feb 5 to Feb 12.

The rotation would be changed according to the availability of water, the announcement added.

scholarships: The chief administrator, Zakat, Sindh, Fasihuddin Khan, arrived here on Saturday.

Mr Khan held a meeting with the chairman of the district Zakat committee, representatives of the district governments of Sukkur, Ghotki, Khairpur, Shikarpur, Larkana, and Jacobabad, the EDOs of education of concerned districts and district Zakat officers, Sukkur at EDO (Revenue) office, Sukkur.

He directed relevant authorities to immediately complete the forms provided for the ministry of religious affairs scholarships for poor students to ensure the payment of the amount released by the government to meet their education expenses.

The ministry of religious affairs has earmarked Rs2.07 million for grant of general scholarships and Rs6.73 million for technical scholarships in Sukkur district.

Later, he visited various areas of the Sukkur city and surveyed businesses started under the government’s permanent rehabilitation package and expressed his satisfaction in this regard.

He suspended the chairman of the Zakat committee, Wallace Road, Sukkur, Mohammad Sabir Siddiqui.
