DADU, Jan 25: A landlord, Imdad Ali Gorar, was kidnapped by bandits from Sojhro village, Mehar taluka on Friday.

A gang of unidentified bandits stormed the village and opened aerial fire to harass the villagers.

The bandits looted thousands of rupees cash, gold ornaments and other valuables from the villagers, kidnapped the landlord and took him to the hilly area.

On Saturday, the police conducted raids in Faridabad, Thariri Mohabbat, Nao Goth, Bhand Mari, Bahawal Gorar and other villages, from where, they believed, the bandits had passed.

During house-to-house search in the villages, police arrested 30 villagers but the kidnapped landlord was not recovered.

The police have also failed to recover district revenue officer Pervez Ahmed Junejo, who was kidnapped from the jurisdiction of Wahi Pandhi police three weeks back.

The captors have reportedly demanded Rs20 million ransom for his release.

DIES: A boy, Mohammad Khan Chandio, 5, died after being run over by a Hyderabad-bound bus here on Saturday when he was crossing a road.
