Aizaz helps PIA crush Bahawalpur

RAWALPINDI, Jan 24: PIA went marching into the quarterfinals of the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy inflicting an innings and 132-run defeat on Bahawalpur on the third day of their pre-quarterfinal match at Rawalpindi Stadium on Friday.

Pace bowler Aizaz bin Ilyas took a five-wicket haul and Zahid finished with three for 50 as Bahawalpur, 21 for three overnight, were sent packing for 147 in their second innings.

PIA held a firm grip on the match from day one and had gained a 279-run first innings lead, thanks to centuries by Ghulam Ali (144), Asif Mujtaba (118) and half centuries coming from Faisal Iqbal (69), Bazid Khan (55) and Kamran Sajid (54).

By winning this match, PIA may have some sort of record since it was their fifth consecutive innings triumph this season.
