KARACHI, Jan 24: Rawalpindi coasted to an easy seven-wicket victory over Multan to reach last eight of the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy at Multan Cricket Stadium on Friday.
According to details available, Needing 108, Rawalpindi lost three wickets before reaching their target with Pervez Aziz making an unbeaten 73 off 71 balls. He slammed 11 boundaries.
Earlier, pacer Mohammad Fayyaz took another wicket to finish with six for 65 and a match haul of 11 for 88 as Multan were bowled out for 161 in their second innings.
Faisalabad also made it to the quarterfinals with an emphatic innings and seven-run drubbing of Sialkot at Bahawalpur Stadium in Bahawalpur.
Leg-spinner Farooq Iqbal grabbed a match bag of 10 for 86, including six for 67 in Sialkot’s second innings of 263. Opener Shaiman Butt scored 83.
Meanwhile, Sargodha were heading for victory against Lahore Whites at Arbab Niaz Stadium in Peshawar.
Sargodha gained a first innings lead of 146 and then reduced Lahore Whites to 111 for four in their second innings.
Sargodha’s batting heroes were Usman Arshad, who ended with an undefeated 92, and Samiullah Niazi (2(). Their added 102 for the last wicket partnership. Khurram Chauhan claimed seven for 70 in 22 overs.
