25pc desilting complete

FAISALABAD, Jan 24: Around 25 per cent work in the second phase of desilting campaign has so far been completed.

This was stated by irrigation chief engineer Anwar Khan during a briefing held to review the pace of work of desilting on Friday.

He said in the first phase 142-mile-long canals and distributaries have so far been desilted. In the meantime, 17 water channels of Jhang canal division were also desilted.

He said in the second phase, 161 miles long 23 distributaries of Hafizabad canal division, 259 miles long 33 channels of Upper Gogera, 106 miles long 15 channels of Lower Gogera, 86 miles long 15 channels of Bural canal division, and 21 miles long four channels of Khanki canal division would be desilted.

He said on the motivation of the department, farmers were extending maximum cooperation in the desilting campaign.
