GUJRANWALA, Jan 24: A couple was killed while five other family members sustained serious burn injuries when a gas cylinder exploded in Civil Lines here on Friday.
Muhammad Anser, his wife Robina Bibi and other family members were present in their house when cylinder exploded during the preparation of breakfast. The couple died instantly while Walayat, his wife Shahnaz Bibi, Muhammad Khan and two children Noman and Razia received burn wounds. They were shifted to Mayo Hospital, Lahore, for their critical condition.
A skilled worker, Muhammad Akber, had died instantly while half a dozen others sustained burn injuries when a gas cylinder exploded in a jewellery shop some four days ago.
DEATH TOLL: The death toll of the collision between a bus and a wagon on the GT Road, Kamoki, rose to 12 on Friday.
Sanaullah of Fatumand, Gujranwala, who was shifted to Mayo Hospital in Lahore for his serious condition, died on Friday. The body was handed over to his heirs who laid him to rest in a local graveyard.
Meanwhile, the Kamoki police have arrested absconding bus driver Amjed Shah from his house in Gujranwala.
STABBED: An electrician was stabbed to death by unidentified assailants on the Sialkot Road here on late Thursday.
Muhammad Amin was present in his house when the accused called him out, stabbed and injured him with knives and escaped. He died on the way to a local DHQ Hospital. He was the father of four minor children. The motive behind the incident could not be known.
DIES: A passer-by, who was shot at and injured by robbers on resistance in Wahando a few days ago, died at the DHQ Hospital here on Friday.
Muhammad Aslam was on his way to Lalupur village when robbers had intercepted him and injured him for putting up resistance.
RECOVERED: A bailiff of the Lahore High Court raided the Satellite Town police station here on Friday and recovered four people who were detained without registration of any case against them.
The judge ordered to free them and issued notices to SHO Tariq Zafar and SI Ashraf Butt to appear before court on Saturday (today).
The police had picked up Abdul Qadir, Aslam, Wazir and Tanvir Ansari of Qadafi Road from their houses on suspicion of a theft case some three months ago.
Their heirs moved court for their release and action against the police officials.
REMANDED: The Anti-Terrorism Court No 2, Gujranwala, granted five days physical remand of the main accused who had killed ex-MPA Chaudhry Muhammad Farooq and his nephew Mahmood Maqsood.
The judge also ordered for their production before court during the next hearing on Jan 29.
Sarai Alamgir SHO Muhammad Arif produced Raja Masood Sarwar and other accused before court amid tight security. Police had already got the physical remand of other accused involved in the murder case.
Bb SUSPENDED: The Hafizabad SHO was suspended from service on corruption charges here on Friday.
DIG Malik Muhammad Iqbal had received a complaint about inspector Salahuddin. He ordered an inquiry which found him guilty of charges.
