US won’t give any concession: Fazl

By Our Correspondent

SUKKUR, Jan 24: The chief of the Jamiat-i-Ulema-i-Islam, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, has said that the rulers of Pakistan wanted to make Pakistan a colony of the US “but we will never permit them to do so”.

He said this while addressing JUI workers and students of the Masjid Manzil Gah while inaugurating a new building for its Madrasa.

He bitterly criticized President Musharraf due to whose wrong policies “a wide gulf had been created between the Muslim countries and Pakistan”.

He said that despite dancing to the tune of the US, it was not prepared to give Pakistan any concessions and the country was now caught in its trap.

The JUI chief said that Pakistan’s solidity was at stake as the entire country was surrounded by American agencies and nobody was safe from them.

He said the rulers had closed their eyes and become the US’s obedient servants.

He said that in case of US aggression on Pakistan nobody would dare to help us.

The JUI chief said that President Musharraf’s recent statement was “shameful and he should now tender his resignation”.

He said a lone man had made Pakistan hostage in the hands of the US and his uniform had now become a liability for the nation.

He said, “Our people now want to get rid of him.”

He said those in power would not even dare to lodge a protest on the excesses committed by the US on our people.

While referring to the Indo-Pakistan tension, he said that the situation was being used for exerting pressure on Pakistan in the wake of the likelihood of an attack on Iraq.

The ceremony was also attended by Maulana Murad Halejvi and Abdul Kareem Abid among others.

BANDITS KILLED: Two dacoits were killed in an exchange of fire between Golo tribesmen and dacoits on Thursday night.

The SHO, Durrani Mehar police station, told this correspondent on Friday that the exchange of fire between dacoits and Golo tribesmen took place on Thursday after the dacoits had snatched two tractors from the Golos.

He said that during the gun battle two dacoits, Goro Sabzoi and Rahim Bux Sabzoi, both of whom were brothers, were killed.

However, the remaining dacoits fled into the forest taking the bodies of their accomplices with them.

The Durrani Mehar police registered a case against 20 dacoits.

TWO INJURED: Two Chachar tribesmen, Kareem Bux Chachar and Abdullah Chachar, were injured during an armed clash between two groups of Chachar tribesmen in Ghotki on Friday.

Police arrested six tribesmen.

HESCO: Activists of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement observed a three-hour token hunger strike in front of the Municipal Office against Hesco for issuing deduction bills this month.

Some activists including Khuda Bux Dayo, Asif Dayo, and Sarmast Baloch blamed the Hesco officials of Jacobabad District of issuing deduction bills to the consumers to conceal their electricity theft.
