KARACHI, Jan 24: Sindh Governor Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ibad on Friday stressed the need for greater cooperation between Muslim countries in the field of science and technology.
He was speaking at a reception hosted at Governor’s House here for the participants of a workshop on “satellite-imaging technology and application”.
The governor said focus of the use of technology should be service to humanity. The beneficiary of technological development should not only be the humanity, but every creature.
He said the present government is paying full attention to the promotion and progress of science and technology.
“We will have to work to find out new directions for attaining a respectful status in the comity of nations and also for the benefit of not only Pakistan, but the Muslims and the entire world”.
He expressed the hope that developing Muslim countries would try to greatly benefit from the achievements of science and technology. He described the participation of young people in this field as encouraging.
The Muslim nations, he observed, can strive their best for accumulating their resources, expertise, facilities and ideas for their own progress.
The seven-day workshop was organized with the cooperation of Inter-Islamic Network on Space and Technology (INSET), SUPARCO, Comstech and Islamic Development Bank (IDB). The workshop was inaugurated by the governor on Wednesday.—APP
