AT criticizes role of establishment

By Our Correspondent

KHAIRPUR, Jan 23: Awami Tehrik chief Rasool Bux Palijo has alleged that the establishment and Punjab were working on an agenda to paralyse the Sindhi people by snatching their mineral resources, education, water and other fundamental rights.

He said this while addressing a workshop on the topic “Sindh, Pakistan, and the International Situation” at the press club here on Thursday.

He said Pakistan came into being due to Sindh and Bengal.

He said that after the formation of Pakistan, Mr Mohammad Ali Jinnah wanted to make laws, and keep account but the bureaucracy did not like it and introduced a capitalist system.

Mr Palijo blamed Punjab for creating troublesome conditions for the Bengalis and pushed them towards creating Bangladesh; now the same conditions were being created for Sindh.

He said that Sindhis were being deprived of education and employment, and dams and reservoirs were being constructed to steal the water share of Sindh.

He termed the present political set up “fraud and undemocratic” saying it was not acceptable to Sindh.

He regretted that the lawmakers, for whom the Sindhis had voted, were deceiving them.

He said that if only 500,000 people hold a protest against the water crisis, the establishment would be able to do nothing but would have to accept the people’s demands.

He said those who were behind the ministries should feel ashamed as they were not the least bothered with the people’s problems and needs.

He said that changes were likely to take place and Sindh too would be affected by these changes; therefore, the people of Sindh should remain prepared for these changes.

CAR STOLEN: Three armed men took off with a car (KRW-5544) they had borrowed from a man, Mumtaz Qureshi, near the Danwaro village, in the limits of the Tando Masti police station late Wednesday night.
