Three try to commit suicide in lock-up

By Our Correspondent

NAWABSHAH, Jan 23: Three accused — Ghous Bux, Rahim Bux, and Abdul Latif — who were being kept at the Sakrand police station in a case under section 337, 148, 149, and 440 tried to commit suicide by injuring themselves due to police atrocities on Wednesday.

Ghous Bux, Rahim Bux, and Abdul Latif tried to commit suicide by slamming their heads on the bars of their lock up, which resulted in bleeding.

Police officials on duty opened the lock up, got hold of them, and took them to the Taluka Hospital Sakrand.

A doctor at the hospital, who requested anonymity, told this correspondent that the injured men told him that they were being severely tortured by the police, and added that the police was also using harsh and vulgar language.

The Sakrand police registered another FIR under section 325 QQS and 309 PPC against the three men.

When this correspondent contacted the Sakrand police station, the head constable, Gulzar Ahmed Brohi, denied any such incident taking place.

However, when this correspondent tried to contact the SHO, the TPO, Sakrand, and the DPO, they were not available for comment.
