ISLAMABAD, Jan 23: The Supreme Court on Thursday asked the NAB to produce record of the case pending against PPP leader Jehangir Badar who has sought bail from the apex court.

Advocate Akram Sheikh, representing Jehangir Badar, requested the court to ask the Prosecutor General NAB to show if his client had taken any personal benefit by using his official position. The counsel stated that all the employees whom he allegedly got appointed were qualified people and were still working. The permits for petrol pump stations, which he allotted, were also not cancelled.

The counsel argued that his client did not use his official position for personal benefit nor commit any irregularity while recruiting people, as all the candidates possessed requisite qualification and were still in service.

Akram Sheikh stated that his client had already been exonerated from the charge that he did not take any action in Amin Brothers case which caused a loss of Rs8 million to the national exchequer. The court asked the Prosecutor General Accountability to read out the charges against the petitioner to indicate if he had drawn personal benefit while recruiting people and approving the licences.
