Moot on children’s rights today

PESHAWAR, Jan 22: A one-day conference on violence against children is being organized by the Society for the Protection of the Rights of the Child (Sparc) in collaboration with Human Rights Study Centre, University of Peshawar, at a hotel here on Thursday.

Professionals from the government and civil society organizations had been invited to share their expertise, knowledge and experiences about various facets of violence meted out to children under the age of 18 years in schools, homes and workplaces, and during detention and conflicts, said a press release issued on Wednesday.

Sparc national coordinator Anees Jillani, HRSC director Ahmed Ali, the Charge d’ Affairs of the Royal Embassy of Norway, Alf Arne Ramslien, UK Consortium for Street Children’s Sadia Mehmud Marshal and Marie Wernhem, and Save the Children’s Steve Ashby would speak at the conference.—Bureau
