Provinces’ moot to discuss blast

By Raja Asghar

ISLAMABAD, Jan 22: The government on Wednesday called an inter-provincial conference to consider the law and order situation and ordered a probe after a pipeline blast near the Sui gas field, disrupting supply to Punjab and the NWFP.

The conference being held here on Saturday will consider maintenance of law order and ways to settle tribal feuds blamed for Tuesday night’s alleged sabotage and intermittent lawlessness in the area where Balochistan borders with Punjab and Sindh, Interior Secretary Tasneem Noorani said.

He told Dawn that the conference, to be presided over by him in the absence of Interior Minister Faisal Saleh Hayat —- on a private trip to the Gulf —- would be attended by the home secretaries and police chiefs of the provinces as well as heads of paramilitary forces.
