US ambassador lauds education reforms

QUETTA, Jan 21: US Ambassador Nancy Powell called on Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali at his residence here on Tuesday and exchanged views with him on various matters of mutual interest.

US Consul General John Bauman was also present on the occasion. Ms Powell had also paid a formal visit to the PM earlier at CM Secretariat.

She also called on Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Mir Mohammed Yousaf and discussed with him the development process in the province, participation of women in development activities and the Gwadar Master Plan.

The CM informed her that reforms were being introduced in the education sector to increase literacy rate in the province. Women were also participating in social, economic and political activities, he said.

She lauded the educational reforms programme and said she was collecting information about the drought situation to consider giving US assistance in this respect. The CM hosted a lunch in honour of the envoy. —APP
