KARACHI: Encroachments removed in Eidgah, Saddar

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Jan 21: The municipal administration of Saddar Town in its on-going anti-encroachment campaign on Tuesday removed encroachments from Eidgah, Jamia Cloth market, Light House Cinema, Boulton Market and Denso Hall.

A spokesman for the Town administration claimed that the anti-encroachment staff on Tuesday removed hundreds of cabins, pushcarts and other encroachments between Eidgah and Boulton Market while some encroachers voluntarily removed their paraphernalia from footpaths and roads.

He said all the cabins, pushcarts and other seized goods had been dumped at the town’s store.

Supervising the anti-encroachment drive, the town’s municipal officer, Khalid Mehmood Sheikh, warned the officials of anti-encroachment cell to ensure that the encroachments currently being removed from the Town’s roads and footpaths do not re-appear, or else strict disciplinary action would be taken against them.

Asked what measures had been taken to remove encroachments from Saddar, Empress Market and Mohammad Bin Qasim Road (Burns Road), an official of the town claimed that all sorts of encroachments would be removed from these roads also in the second phase of its current anti-encroachment drive which would continue for a month.
