Woman, infant die of suffocation

RAWALPINDI, Jan 20: A woman and her infant died of suffocation in G-9/4, police said.

Samina Bibi, wife of Shah Jahan, and her 18-month-old son Mohammad Mumtaz were found dead when their room was opened on Monday morning.

Shah Jahan, an employee of Pakistan Agriculture Research Council (PARC), was in Lahore at the time of the incident.

Samina had locked her room before going to sleep on Sunday night, but did not turn off the heater. The room was filled with gas, resulting in her as well as her son’s death, the police said. —Our Staff Reporter
