KARACHI, Jan 20: The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal, at a meeting held here on Monday, decided to seek remedy through judicial recourse against lawlessness.
The meeting expressed its resentment over extortion and strong arm tactics by the elements out to create sense of insecurity among the people and decided to confront such “bhatta” collectors.
It also agreed to apprise the chief minister, chief secretary and the IG of Sindh of the MMA’s perception of law and order, with special reference to Karachi.
The meeting alleged that state machinery had been used to ‘engineer’ the byelection results. It deplored the tendency of ridiculing Islam and religious parties during and after the electioncampaign. It urged the government to take serious note of such unacceptable tendencies.
Meanwhile, MNAs Mohammed Hussain Mahenti, Abdul Sattar Afghani and Mohammad Laeeq Khan have condemned KESC for harassing people of low-income class and small industrialists by sending them excessive bills.
