Amjad grabs trophy

KARACHI, Jan 19: Amjad Yousuf picked up the top prize in the Standard Chartered Golf Tournament, when he carded 140 to finish up on top among the Professionals during the two-day event played on the lush greens of the Karachi Golf Club.

Javed Inayat also had 140 but was regulated to the second spot.

Ejaz Gul (141), Karam Hussain (144) and Saleem Inayat (145) took the third, fourth and fifth places respectively.

Over 250 golfers participated in this tournament prestigious tournament. Standard Chartered Bank the leading foreign bank, has made its presence felt in every province in the country, was celebrating 150 years of existence, while banking across 50 countries throughout the world.

The Ladies event ended in a tie with Mrs Dong Chul Park and Mrs J. Koh finishing off with 37 points each. But Mrs J. Koh was declared the winner in the two way tied on back nine.

Mrs J. Koh also credited herself with the subsidiary prize finishing 10 feet, closest to the pin In Hole No.4 Blue. Mrs Kim Dam Nam was runner-up, with 17 feet four inches, closest to the pin in Hole No.3 Red.

Kang Duke Lyee scoring 41 points emerged the winner on the two way tie bagged on back 9 edging out Lt. Col. Anwar Jan Babar, who also carded 41 points.

Winner of the gross event with 69 was Murtaza Qasim, with Sohail K. Rana, runner-up with 72 gross.

Muhammad Muzaffar tied with Safdar Ali with 19 points apiece but emerged the winner in a two way tie won the back six. The subsidiary prize was pocketed by Mir Safdar Ali with 19 feet 9 inches closest to the pin in Hole No.3 Red.

Rafique Dawood was three feet closest to the pin in Hole No. 4 Blue and Hafeez Shaikh had to be content with the runner-up prize being five feet 10 inches closest to the pin in Hole No.3 Red.

The main event in the Juniors category was bagged by Abdullah Haji with 40 points followed by Jogindar Kumar with 35 points. Danish Khan claimed the subsidiary prize with 17 feet five inches closest to the pin in Hole No.4 Blue.

Vice Admiral Muhammad Haroon HI (M) T.Bt. Chief of Staff Pakistan Navy, presented the prizes.
