KARACHI: BCS aptitude test for govt colleges on 27

KARACHI, Jan 19: The centralized aptitude test for admission to Bachelor of Computer Science (BCS) classes in selected city colleges would be held at the D J Science College on Jan 27, it was learnt officially.

A senior official in the City government’s education department said that in total six colleges would be starting BCS teaching in the first week of February. He said that admissions would be made on centralized basis and applicants would be required to give their preferences regarding their choice between the male and female colleges.

According to a plan of the Sindh education department, a total of six colleges, including the Govt College of Commerce and Economics, D J Science College, National College, Govt Degree Science College, Stadium Road, Govt Sir Syed Girls College and Govt Khurshid Girls College, have to offer 40 seats each for the BCS students in the new academic session.

A couple of colleges have already started the admission process with the distribution of admission forms and prospectus, while remaining were to start it either on January 20 or after.

It was further learnt that female students would be allowed admissions to male colleges, while admission to the two female colleges would be restricted only to the female students.

According to the policy of the department the students with at least 45 per cent marks in Intermediate examination, with Pre-engineering group or general group with Mathematics and two optional subjects from Computer Science, Statistics and Mathematics, would be eligible for the admission.

The merit list for admission would be based on weightage of marks obtained by the applicants in aptitude test (50 per cent), HSC examination (40%) and SSC examination (10%). The fees for the BCS classes would be Rs 500 per month, in addition to the routine fees, added the source.
