BEIJING, Jan 19: US Under Secretary of State John Bolton arrived in Beijing on Sunday for talks expected to focus on a standoff over North Korea’s nuclear ambitions and preventing the spread of weapons of mass destruction.

“We’re going to have consultations tomorrow. I’ll talk to you after that, “ Bolton, who is in charge of arms control and international security at the State Department, said after arriving in Beijing. He declined further comment. Mr Bolton was due for talks on Monday with Vice Foreign Minister Wang Guangya, a foreign ministry spokeswoman said last week. A US embassy spokesman said discussions would probably touch on North Korea, regional security and non-proliferation.—Reuters
