PESHAWAR, Jan 18: NWFP Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani has urged the international community to comprehend the ground reality and pursue a solution to the international conflicts instead of involving in warfare.

“War is no solution to any conflict, rather it further complicates the issues,” the chief minister said, while talking to Mr Jeon Bou-guan, ambassador of South Korea, at the Frontier House here on Saturday, said a handout.

Brushing aside the propaganda of the international community about the electoral success and policies of MMA’s government in the Frontier province, Mr Durrani said that their apprehensions were misdirected. The international community should not be worried about the MMA government, he added.

He said that the MMA had emerged as a dominant force in the elections because of people’s support and their belief in democracy and democratic values.

Referring to the South Korean-Pakistan relations, the chief minister said that the government appreciated the cooperation of the Korean government, especially in the communication sector.

He hoped that this cooperation would be further extended to improve social service delivery system in the NWFP.

The chief minister told the Korean envoy that as the prolonged stay of over three million Afghan refugees in the province had badly affected the social service delivery system, the government was taking all possible measures to lay down the infrastructure of this system afresh. He said it was good to see that the international community was taking interest in the reconstruction of Afghanistan, adding that the NWFP government was not oblivious to its responsibilities in this regard.

Mr Jeon Bou-guan reciprocated the sentiments and assured that the Korean government would look into the possibilities of re- enforcing the ties of mutual cooperation between the two countries. He also appreciated the MMA government’s approach towards issues relating to the international community.
