PPP to protest in NA at rising crimes

FAISALABAD, Jan 17: Local MPAs of the People’s Party Parliamentarians will raise voice on the floor of the House against police failure to check rising incidents of dacoity and other crimes.

It was announced at a meeting, held here on Friday under the chairmanship of Punjab PPP secretary-general and MPA Rana Aftab Ahmad and attended by MPAs Raja Riaz Ahmad, Riaz Shahid, Faiz Kamoka, Dr Asad Moazzam, Imtiaz Gill and Khalid Mahmood Wattoo.

Participants in the meeting observed that the local police had failed to maintain law and order due to the negligence of their highups.

They also observed that dacoities and highway robberies had become the order of the day, but the police personnel were playing the role of a silent spectator. The incidents of carjacking were also on the rise, but no action was being taken to arrest them.

They alleged that union council Nazimeen belonging to opposite groups of the district Nazim and tehsil Nazimeen were not being provided with development funds.

The PPP MPAs urged the chief minister and the governor to direct all district police officers to keep the law and order situation under control. Besides, funds should also be provided to the Nazimeen, MPAs and MNAs of opposition parties, they said.
