Dera Bugti without power for four days

QUETTA, Jan 17: The entire Dera Bugti district is without electricity for the last four days, while Sui-Kashmore main water supply pipeline has also been damaged by some miscreants.

This was confirmed by the district administration officer, Khaleeq Nazar, while speaking to PPI over telephone from Sui on Friday and attributed the damages to tribal disputes in the area.

He said that some miscreants had damaged the transmission line near Mazari Goth area of the Rajanpur district, Punjab, adjacent to Dera Bugti.

He informed that Wapda officials had proceeded to the area and according to them electricity would be restored by Saturday.

There were also reports that miscreants punctured the main water supply pipeline in the area.

Mazari Goth is about 40 km east of Sui, Pakistan’s oldest gas field meeting more than half of the energy requirements for the last 50 years.

The DAO said that the PPL authorities had lodged an FIR with the Shahwali police station about the damages.—PPI
