KARACHI, Jan 17: Sindh governor Dr Ishratul Ibad has said the government is formulating a strategy to improve the law and order situation in the province

He was talking to a group of journalists on Friday evening after the inaugural session of a medical workshop. He said some of the steps in the proposed strategy had already been implemented. “The remaining steps will soon be implemented,” he said.

In response to a question, the governor said the people who had recently caused law and order problems in Karachi didn’t want to see the rule of law take hold in the city, the province or even the country.

Dr Ibad said the government was trying its best to bring the situation under control as soon as possible.

He said the problems in the health and education departments were such that the government on its own couldn’t bring about improvements. “Not enough resources are at the disposal of the government. So the problems cannot be overcome by the government alone. The private sector and the common people must join hands to help bring about improvements in the social sectors,” he said.
