KARACHI, Jan 17: The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) on Friday held a protest demonstration in front of the Karachi Press Club (KPC) to denounce the arrest of Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) workers.

Waving banners and placards, a large number of political activists, belonging to the component parties of the MMA chanted slogans against the “operation” against JI workers.

Speaking on the occasion, JI leader Muhammad Muslim alleged that to hamper development of Karachi, the Muttahida Qaumi Movement had started intervening into the city government’s affairs.

He condemned the incident in which two activists of the Muttahida were killed and alleged it was an old practice of the Muttahida to kill its own people and then blame others for their murders. He demanded that the government let Nazims work freely and JI workers be released.—PPI
