KARACHI: Hawkesbay housing plan reviewed


KARACHI, Jan 17: In a meeting to discuss various steps about journalists’ housing scheme in Hawkesbay, Sindh Chief Secretary K.B. Rind was informed on Friday that encroachments have been removed from the plots and demarcation process was underway.

DCO Shafiqur Rehman Paracha told the meeting that a pipeline, which originated from Mauripur, was being laid for water supply to the area under the Khushhal Pakistan Programme.

Expressing satisfaction, the chief secretary said that the government‘s pledge had been fulfilled and there existed a cordial relations between the government and journalists.

He directed the finance department to ensure the provision of fund in three phases for timely completion of developmental projects as decided in the previous meeting and that Rs20 million should be provided according to rules and regulations for the first phase.

Mr Rind said that plantation in the housing schemes should be started with the help of the allottees and notables for beautification of the area.

It was decided that Chief Minister Ali Mohammad Mahar would be invited to open the developmental work in the area and that the city government would cooperate in the watch-and-ward efforts made by journalists to avert encroachments.

KPC BUILDING: the matter pertaining to handing over of an alternative building to the owner of the existing Karachi Press Club building was also discussed.

The rest-house of the local government department has already been selected for the purpose in which offices of a law-enforcement agency are housed at present.

It was decided that home secretary Aslam Sanjrani would approach registrar of the anti-terrorism court and the Pakistan Rangers, Sindh, while the DCO would work as a focal person.

President Karachi Press Club Sabihuddin Ghousi and Secretary Najeeb Ahmed also attended the meeting.—PPI
