KARACHI, Jan 17: City Nazim Naimatullah Khan on Thursday inaugurated the Rashid Minhas Road constructed at a cost of Rs54.8 millions.
Addressing the inauguration ceremony he said that despite a number of impediments in its way and limited sources the city government never ceased to serve Karachiites.
“We have proved that limited sources could never stop those who want to serve,” he said and added that he had promised the rightful use of the trust and authority bestowed upon him and he was stuck with the pledge.
He said the number of the developmental projects completed within one and a half year of the city government were never completed at that pace ever before in the history of Karachi.
“Earlier the income was never shown to the public, nor was the record of expenses. As we have curtailed non-developmental expenses, there are more funds available for development projects as compared to the past,” he said.
The Nazim commended the efforts of EDO works and services Brigadier Zaheer Qaderi and his department, saying they had initiated a new tradition of early completion of projects.
The Nazim informed that on the demand of the inhabitants of Gulshan-i-Jamal a signal was being set up at the Rashid Minhas Road near a school and the plane for a service road was also included in the project.
Naib Nazim Tariq Hasan, speaking on the occasion, said that the timely completion of the Rashid Minhas Road was one of the many successes of the city government.
“We had promised to make this city a “Gulshan” and we are heading towards that end, and flowers are blossoming in the shape of various schemes”.
He said roads and bridges were being constructed and the pace with which the city government carried out development works was a record. He said that under the leadership of the Nazim Karachi his team would make Karachi a city of lights again.
