Imran Farhat hits superb century


SHARJAH, Jan 16: Openers Imran Farhat slammed a polished 126 and Shadab Kabir hit solid 88 as Pakistan ‘A’ reached 216 without loss in 37 overs on the opening day of the two-day match here at Sharjah Stadium on Thursday.

Earlier the home team were dismissed for 208 in 52.3 overs on Thursday.

Imran consumed 139 deliveries for his chanceless century, hitting seven fours and two mighty sixes and Shadab, just 12 runs away from a deserved century, had four boundaries and two sixes.

Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik won the toss and invited the home side to bat first on a sunny day in a match of 90 overs each innings.

Paceman Umar Gul was most successful bowler for the visitors claiming three wickets for 23 while Najaf Shah took two wickets for 41 runs.

The home side were rescued by tailender Kaif Ghoury (74), and Mohammad Tauqeer who struck a breezy (55) to provide some respectability to the total.
