NAWABSHAH, Jan 16: The Jam Saheb police, Nawabshah, on Thursday registered an FIR under section 302, 324 QSS, 147, 148, 149, 114, and 109 PPC against seven people for killing three and injuring two Shar tribesmen, some 45 kms from Jam Saheb, on Wednesday.
A man, Dur Mohammad Shar, resident of the Manik Shar village, Deh Pir Abu, Khairpur district, lodged an FIR with the Jam Saheb police stating that he and his family were going towards the Jan Mohammad Aradi polling station for casting their votes when seven men — Sain Bux Wassan, Hussain Bux, Soomro Chang, Khadim Hussain Baladi, Abdul Rehman Kori, Mohammad Hassan Aradi, and Mohammad Hassan Shar — told them not to cast their votes and return home.
He stated that when he refused to do so saying that it was his right to cast vote, he and his family were attacked by the accused.
He said that they opened fire as a result of which his brothers — Raheb Ali, Karam Ali, and Mehar Ali — were killed on the spot, while Ramzan Shar and Rajro Shar were injured.
On Thursday morning, MPA Syed Qaim Ali Shah, MNA Manzoor Wassan, MPA Naeem Kharal, and MNA Pir Fazal Hussain Shah and others reached the People’s Medical College Hospital Nawabshah and visited the two injured people.
Talking to this correspondent, Mr Qaim accused the government of “massive rigging” in the by-elections.
He said that he had earlier informed the IG and the AIG, Sukkur, that fake cases were being registered against PPP workers.
He said that the PPP had always won on this constituency but in the October elections and now, the people were harassed and forced to remain indoors and not cast their votes.
He said that on polling day, some voters of the PPP were stopped in the NA-216 constituency in Nara Tehsil and attacked by the PML-F workers as a result of which three PPP workers were killed and two others were injured.
He said that the incident took place in the jurisdiction of the Khairpur district, but the Khairpur police refused to register an FIR saying that the incident occurred in Nawabshah.
