LAHORE, Jan 14: The Punjab Union of Journalists took out a procession to press for the implementation of the 7th Wage Award outside the Lahore Press Club on Tuesday afternoon.
Later, participants in the rally, led by Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists president I.H. Raashed and PUJ president Bakhtgir Chaudhry, marched on the Governor’s House.
Speaking to the processionists, they urged the government to force the newspaper owners to implement the award and provide job security to journalists. They also urged the government to make the release of government advertisement to the newspapers conditional with the implementation of the award and timely payment of salaries to their employees. — Staff Reporter
