GUJRANWALA, Jan 14: The Gujranwala Electric Power Company (Gepco) has allocated tubewell connections quota for the farmers of Hafizabad district.

This was stated by Gepco chief executive Brig Saifullah Khalid on Tuesday. He was speaking at an open kutchery held in the executive engineer’s office in Hafizabad.

He assured the consumers that no detection bill would be received from them on minor issue.

He advised the consumers not to steal electricity. He also directed Gepco officials to improve their efficiency.

He said that if half a dozen farmers apply for tubewell connections from a village, Wapda would install two electricity poles there. He said that cable to cable connection would not be allowed at any cost.

He offered the defaulters of Rs100,000 that if they deposit 90 per cent, the remaining amount would be written off.

Earlier, he issued orders on consumers’ complains.

BAR POLLS: The Wazirabad Bar Association’s annual elections were held on Tuesday.

President: Mian Salahuddin Qaisar (80); vice-president: Muhammad Ashraf Kahloon (77); general secretary: Muhammad Riaz Chattha (48).
