KARACHI, Jan 13: A meeting here on Monday reviewed the arrangements made with regard to law and order situation during by-election for three National and five provincial assembly seats in districts Ghotki, Shikarpur, Jacobabad, Khairpur, Dadu, Thatta and Karachi.

The meeting was held in the office of the provincial election commissioner under the chairmanship of Justice Mohammad Ashraf Leghari, member of the Election Commission of Pakistan.

Sindh Chief Secretary K.B. Rind and IGP Syed Kamal Shah assured the meeting that foolproof arrangements had been made for maintenance of law and order on the polling day.

The provincial election commissioner briefed the meeting about the steps undertaken by the election commission to ensure fair, free and smooth election so as to ensure a high voters’ turnout.

Justice Leghari stressed upon the provincial administration that they should not succumb to any pressure from any quarter and ensure that all are provided with an equal opportunity to vote in a free atmosphere.—PPI
