Muslim’s winner put SSGC into last 16

By Our Sports Reporter

KARACHI, Jan 12: Mohammad Muslim’s match-winning goal propelled Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) into last 16 after a 1-0 victory over Shahzad Mohammadan in the All-Pakistan Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto football tournament Sunday.

After a barren first half, Muslim banged home in the 66th minute.

Five-goal Zahir Ahmad’s brilliant hat trick powered Mahfooz Eleven to a convincing 6-1 triumph over Himayati Sports.

Himayati Sports were almost destroyed before the breather as Mahfooz Eleven surged into a 5-1 lead. Zahir grabbed his first in the 12th minute, Mohammad Younus got the second in the 20th minute.

Zahir nodded home three times in a row in the 25th, 35th and 40th minutes to complete his hat trick. Mohammad Usman got the consolation for Himayati Sports three minutes before halftime.

Zahir slammed home his fifth and sealed the fate of the game in the 55th minute.

Two second half strikes from Asim Faiz helped Sindh Police tame a spirited Inam Memorial 4-2.

Although the policemen went 2-0 up in the first session, they were given a tough time by the opposition who equalised after restart.

Police grabbed the lead in the 20th minute through Abu Bakar and Lal Mohammad increased the ascendancy in the 35th minute.

Inam Memorial fought back in the second period and reduced the margin in the 40th minute with Abdul Hameed’s first goal, and then levelled when Hameed again found the cage exactly ten minutes later.

Asim came to Police’s rescue and pulled his first in the 65th minute and then struck in the 80th minute to make it 4-2.
