Robbers’ easy sailing in Faisalabad

FAISALABAD, Jan 12: Unidentified bandits remained busy as they looted cash and valuables worth hundreds of thousands of rupees and hijacked a tractor-trolley and a two-wheeler in eight strikes in the city and its rural areas during the last 24 hours.

Two masked robbers snatched Rs150,000 in cash from Muhammad Hussain, employee of a tobacco company, at pistol point near Raja Chowk of Peoples Colony.

A gang of armed bandits looted thousands of rupees in cash, ornaments and other valuables from the house of Dilawar Khan in Bhaiwala village in the area of Nishatabad police station.

Three armed dacoits looted cash and gold worth thousands of rupees from Shah Nawaz’s house in Peoples Town, Factory Area police station.

Four dacoits looted Rs10,000 in cash, ornaments worth Rs15,000 and other valuables by holding hostage the family members of Abdul Ghaffar at Chak 70-GB.

Two highwaymen snatched a two-wheeler (FDR-9349) from shopkeeper Muhammad Shahid in Liaquatabad in the limits of Jhang Bazaar police station.

Armed robbers deprived a dozen villagers of their cash, wristwatches and other valuables on the Faisalabad-Jaranwala Road near Awagat bus stop.

Highwaymen hijacked a tractor-trolley after tying its driver, Rasheed Ahmed, with rope on gunpoint at Chak Jhumra.

Unknown vehicle lifters took away a motorcycle (FDQ-2692) of Muhammad Nawaz who parked it in the local Allied Hospital.

ROUNDED UP: The local police claim to have rounded up 17 gamblers during raids on dens here on late Saturday.

Kotwali police on a tip-off raided a shop in Bhora Gali and arrested Asim, Raza, Waheed, Mazhar Iqbal, Ashfaq and Bashir when they were gambling on a cricket match. The police booked them and sent them to jail.

Factory Area police raided a gambling den in Sir Syed Town and arrested Sajid Afzal, Shafique, Sarfraz, Mehmood, Nazir, Noor, Riasat Ali, Tariq, Rafique and Shakeel Anwar.

The police also seized TV sets and took into custody documents pertaining to gambling record.
