GUJRANWALA, Jan 12: A convention of religious parties, including the Muttahida Majlis Amal, has condemned US’s ‘crush-Muslim’ policy and the arrest of innocent people by FBI agents in Lahore, Karachi and Peshawar.
Speaking at the convention held here on Sunday, MNA Maulana Qazi Hamidullah, MPA Maulana Ghulam Farid Hazarvi, Pakistan Shariat Council chief amir Maulana Feroz Khan, Jamiat Ulema-i-Pakistan district president Hafiz Hamid Akhtar, Jamiat Ahle Hadith’s Maulana Mohammad Rafiq and others demanded that all air bases should be evacuated by US forces and FBI agents be asked to leave the country without any delay.
They demanded that all US citizens in Pakistan should be registered by immigration authorities like Pakistanis in the US.
They threatened that all religious parties would launch a protest drive across the country if FBI agents continued their raids.
FOUR KILLED: Four people were killed and 24 others injured in two fog-related accidents in and around the city on Sunday.
A bus was on its way to Sheikhupura when it collided with another bus coming from the opposite side at Tetley Chowk due to fog. Two passengers of Sheikhupura-bound bus, Mohammad Husain and Akmal, died on the spot while 12 others sustained injuries.
Two persons, Shafqat and Farzana, were killed when a Rawalpindi-bound bus collided head-on with a truck at Wazirabad Bypass due to fog. Some 12 other passengers were injured in the accident and were taken to the tehsil headquarters civil hospital from where Usman and Hashmat Ali were shifted to the Mayo Hospital, Lahore, due to their critical condition.
POWER THIEVES: A Gujranwala Electric Power Company raiding team caught six power thieves in Ghumanwala, Naushera Virkan, on Sunday.
The raiding team removed their meters and issued them detection bills.
