ISLAMABAD, Jan 11: India is actively supporting Iraq in developing Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD), a recently published British dossier has revealed.
According to the dossier, an Indian firm, NEC Engineers, established a plant at Al-Mamon for production of ammonium percolate, a key ingredient for building solid propellant rocket motors.
Besides, chlorine plant at a suspected chemical weapons facility at Al-Fallujah has also been set up by Indian scientists.
The most alarming factor is the belief of highly-placed sources that this collaboration is only the tip of the iceberg.
According to these well-placed sources, India has been providing Iraq the chemical weapons for quite some time.
The chemical biological warfare factory located at Bhopal has been providing training and logistics to Iraq since 1980s.
These sources claim that there is a strong evidence to suggest that after Iraq’s Kuwait debacle and increased involvement of UN inspectors in monitoring of Iraq’s chemical weapons, India has been sending shipments to Iraq under the garb of oil-for-food trade sanctioned by the UN.
It is already a known fact that the trade under oil-for-food deals between Iraq and India has reached $1.1 billion.
The extent of military cooperation between the two countries does not stop here, as there are strong indicators to suggest that the transfer of nuclear technology is also a part of this collaboration.—APP
