Pakistan 5 S. Korea 0

India 4 Malaysia U-16 1

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 10: Pakistan struck four times in the second half to overwhelm South Korea 5-0 and end their league rounds assignment of the International Under-19 Invitational hockey in style at National Stadium on Friday.

Despite the emphatic win Pakistan failed to make the final as they were beaten by India and drew with hosts Malaysia.

A dramatic and exciting second half saw Singapore umpire Muhammad Ali show red card to South Koreans goalkeeper and full back.

Centre forward Mahmood Ali with clinical finishing scored two goals. Center half Muhammad Imran and left-in Tariq Aziz and substitute Abbas Haider completed the scoring for Pakistan.

South Koreans lost their goalkeeper when he upended Mahmood inside the box and the referee had no option but to show him the red card.

Later South Koreans were reduced to nine men after one of their defender was also given marching orders by umpire for dissent.

Pakistan put up a disappointing show in the first half and scored once courtesy Tariq Aziz hitting the boards following a cross from Yasir Islam.

The first session was all Pakistan but their goal-shy forwards failed to find the net or found the South Korean goalkeeper in defiant mood.

In another match of no significance played earlier India routed Malaysia Under-16 4-1.

India playing at a lesirely pace led 1-0 at the half time through an opportunist strike by winger Vinay in the 33rd minute.

A more determined looking India showed more bite in the second half and scored thrice in a space of 19 minutes. Tushar Khandekar, Gurcharan Singh, and Jatinder Pal Singh got their names on the scoresheet.

Malaysia U-16 reduced the margin in the injury time when inside left Fazree Ehsan rattled the board.
