LONDON, Jan 10: A two-day inspection of security arrangements in Kenya will start on Monday ahead of next month’s World Cup, the International Cricket Council (ICC) said on Thursday.

“A Safety and Security delegation will arrive in Kenya on Monday 13th January to begin a two-day inspection,” the ICC said in a statement.

“The delegation will be reviewing security arrangements for teams scheduled to play in Kenya (during the World Cup) to ensure that any real or perceived security concerns held by the countries playing in Kenya are identified and addressed.”

Kenya is scheduled to host two games at the Gymkhana Club in Nairobi against New Zealand on Feb 21 and Sri Lanka on Feb 24.

The ICC delegation will include Anura Tennekoon, chief executive of the Board of Cricket Control for Sri Lanka and former New Zealand captain Jeff Crowe, who is now their team manager.

The delegation will also be accompanied by security experts and representatives of commercial partners and the ICC’s Anti-Corruption Unit.—Reuters
