LARKANA, Jan 10: Sindh PPP chief Nisar Ahmed Khuhro has said that the Peoples’ Party Parliamentarians and the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal will cooperate with each other in the coming Senate elections.

Talking to this correspondent here on Friday, he said that the two parties were in touch with each other in this regard.

Replying to a question, Khuhro alleged that the government would not halt pressuring MNAs and MPAs to muster support for the Senate election.

He said that his party would soon finalize the names of its nominees for the election of senators from Sindh.

The PPP leader welcomed the Sindh cabinet’s demanded for due financial share of Sindh in line with 65 per cent revenue it generated.

He said that it was yet to be seen whether the federal government respected the demand of the Sindh cabinet or threw it in dustbin as, in the past, recommendations of Sindh Assembly, regarding Water Apportionment Accord and National Finance, had been ignored.

Earlier, Khuhro, with MPA Nazeer Jatoi and others visited Sardar Akbar Junejo at a lockup of the Market police station.

Junejo has been arrested on the charges of being involved in the murder of FIA inspector Hussain Ali Sargani, who had been killed here a week back.

INCOME TAX: Mashooq Jatoi, president, All Pakistan Organization of Small Traders and Cottage Industry, Sindh chapter, while rejecting the new income tax ordinance 2001, demanded for its withdrawal.

Addressing a meeting of the organization the other day, Mr Mashooq said that it was in toto against the traders and small businessmen.

He expressed concern over the pathetic state of hygienic conditions in Larkana and urged the government for a package of Rs50 million to renew the outdated sewerage system of the city.

He supported the strike of the sanitary staff voicing for their salaries and pension payments.

PML(Q) ACTIVISTS: A group of PML (Q) activists held a demonstration in protest over the failure of the police in arresting the killers of an FIA inspector Hussain Ali Sargani.
