Narrow Triumph for Rangers

LAHORE, Jan 9: Rangers defeated Guard Rice by a slim margin 6 1/2 -6 by virtue of their 1 1/2 goal handicap.

In the first chukker, both teams scored two goals each with Rangers leading due to handicap advantage. Amanat and Malhi Khan scored a goal each for the winners while Irfan Ali Hyder and Taimur Malik scored a goal each for the losers.

Guard Rice, dominated the second and third chukker scoring four goals, two in each, to get a convincing 6-3 1/2 lead.

Taimur and Irfan scored their second goals while Haider Baig and Zain Khan Khakwani chipped in a goal apiece, before Malhi turned the tables in the fourth chukker.

Losing 6-3 1/2, Rangers struck back in the fourth chukker slamming in three goals in a row, with Saami Itrat netting one goal and Malhi scoring two field goals to clinch victory by a narrow margin.

In another match, Meadowlea beat Eagles 10-2. The losers received both the goals on handicap. Azhar Ali scored four goals for the winners while Hussain Iftikhar and Jamal Iftikhar added three and two goals, respectively. Agha Murtaza Ali contributed a goal.
