Match hit by bad weather

By Our Sports Correspondent

LAHORE, Jan 9: Servis Industries were 127 for five against National Bank as only 25 overs were bowled on the second day of the Quaid Trophy Group-I fixture at Gaddafi Stadium on Thursday.

Play finally got under way 30 minutes before the scheduled tea interval after the weather had cleared sufficiently.

In bitterly cold conditions, Servis added 48 to their 79 for one scored on the opening day. Kashif Nizami, 30 overnight, is still batting, having survived 192 balls for a patient 51.

Lanky medium-pacer Shabbir Ahmed made good use of the prevailing atmosphere to claim three for 49 in 21 overs. Left-arm speedster Zahid Saeed took two for 36.

There for no play at all for the second day running in the match between Faisalabad and Wapda at Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad because of fog and poor visibility.
