ISLAMABAD, Jan 9: Speaker National Assembly, Chaudhry Amir Hussain, said on Thursday that a strong Pakistan-China relationship was of great importance for peace and stability in South Asia.

He was talking to the ambassador of People’s Republic of China, Zhang Chunxiang, who called on him at his parliament chamber here.

The Chinese envoy emphasised that his country’s leadership was convinced that Pakistan’s stability was very important in South Asia and a peaceful settlement of Kashmir dispute was not only in the interest of both Pakistan and India but could also bring peace and stability to the whole region.

Meanwhile, the ambassador of Iran, Seyad Serajuddin Mousavi, and ambassador of Turkey, Hassan Kemal Gur, also called on the NA speaker separately and conveyed to him good wishes on behalf of their respective parliaments on his assuming the office of speaker and restoration of democracy in Pakistan.

Iran’s envoy invited the NA speaker to visit Iran. He extended this invitation on behalf of Mr Mehdi Karobi, the speaker of Iranian parliament.

The Turkish ambassador also invited him to address Turkish parliament.

Earlier, the Chinese envoy extended invitation to Mr Chaudhry from Mr Li Peng for attending the executive council meeting of the Association of Asian Parliaments for peace to be held from Jan 24 to 25 in Beijing.

Chaudhry Amir Hussain accepted the invitation of visiting China at the head of a five-member parliamentary delegation to participate in the moot.
