MoU signed to train 30,000 teachers

By Our Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Jan 9: Intel Pakistan Corporation has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the ministry of education to train 30,000 teachers across the country to incorporate technology in education, it was officially stated here on Thursday.

According to the MoU, the company will train teachers and provide training curriculum to all the computerised government schools and colleges in Sindh, Baluchistan, Punjab, AJK, NWFP, FATA & FANA.

“In Pakistan, Intel has invested in funding, equipment, curriculum development and programme management,” Kamil F Hasan, the country Manager of Intel Pakistan said.

The programme has received excellent feedback from the teachers and 90 per cent of the teachers trained so far felt that they were prepared to integrate technology into teaching versus 22 per cent before the training, he said.

He added that the Intel had facilitated the government’s initiative and had trained 19,000 teachers from various public and private schools since the Intel Teach to the future programme was launched in May 2002.

The programme has been spread to 15 cities.
