ISLAMABAD, Jan 8: Losers of the October elections may file nomination papers to contest the Senate elections subject to the decision of Supreme Court.
This was observed by Justice Munir A Sheikh on Wednesday while sitting on a five-member larger bench which is hearing petitions challenging the ban on losers to contest Senate polls.
Abdul Hafeez Pirzada, appearing for Millat Party’s Javed Jabbar, submitted that those who were defeated in the Oct 10 elections “are now uncertain” about filing their nomination papers.
Justice Munir observed that “they can file nomination papers” and till the decision of this court, their nominations would not be rejected on this ground alone.—APP
