KARACHI: Marwat facing no case, says govt

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Jan 8: The Sindh government has made it clear that neither there is any case against the provincial Education Minister, Irfanullah Khan Marwat, nor any case is pending against him in any court of law.

Terming such allegations by certain quarters “baseless, concocted and preposterous,” an official spokesman maintained that the tribunal, constituted by the Sindh High Court in Veena Hayat case, had seen no involvement of Irfanullah Marwat in the case.

“At that time, Irfanullah Marwat was neither in the government nor had the police under his control,” the spokesman recalled.

He further stated that Mr Marwat’s appointment as Education Minister was not a favour. Rather, he added, he was given the portfolio on the basis of his experience, educational qualifications and administrative capabilities.

The spokesman expressed the hope that instead of levelling baseless allegations, these quarters would extend their cooperation in creating and promoting academic environment in the province.
