PCB bans wives’ travel with team

By Our Sports Correspondent

LAHORE, Jan 6: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided that no wives  will  be allowed to accompany the team.

The decision was taken during a meeting chaired by PCB chief Lt Gen Tauqir Zia on Monday.

Earlier, manager-designate of World Cup squad, Shaharyar Khan, was given a detailed briefing about the players’ contract and the Code of Conduct of the mega event by the PCB boss at Gaddafi Stadium.

PCB chairman briefed the manager on the complete scenario of the team and the players in the last couple of years, a spokesman of the board said after the meeting.

Shaharyar assured that he would try his best to live upto expectations. He informed PCB chief that he knew 10 of the 15 players from the 1999 tour of India when he was the manager.

He also hoped that he would unite the players and would succeed in motivating them for the World Cup.

Tauqir also exchanged notes on the officials accompanying the team for the World Cup.
