LAHORE, Jan 6: Punjab Health Secretary Hassan Wasim Afzal on Monday completed his statement before the Mujaddid Mirza commission constituted by the chief minister to review the matters pertaining to the affairs of hospitals and educational institutions in the province.
The secretary explained salient features of the autonomy, composition of boards of governors besides various aspects of the Punjab Medical and Health Institution Ordinance 2002.
He also briefed the commission regarding the impact of the ordinance on hospitals and observed that the number of patients at autonomous hospitals had increased.
The chairman and members of the commission made certain queries during the statement of the health secretary and inquired about the state of affairs in the autonomous hospitals after the enforcement of the Health Ordinance, 2002. They also inquired about the provision of basic health facilities to the needy patients in these hospitals.
On Tuesday, Prof Dr. Amir Aziz and Prof Dr Shabnum Niazi will appear before the commission.—APP
